Solar Energy
PV's or Photovoltaics (photo=light, voltaics=electricity) are a semiconductor-based technology used to convert light energy into direct current (dc) electricity, using no moving parts, consuming no conventional fuels, and creating no pollution.
PV is a proven technology and it is possible to generate about 120 watts of electric power from a 10 sq. ft. area of SPV panal on a sunny day. It is reliable in different scale applications. PV's require no fuel and do away with the often expensive and erratic supply of fuels. They do not cost anything to operate. The recurrent cost of operating and maintaining are small. (Occasional topping up of distilled water into the battery and cleaning the panels of dust). Benfield ATT are increasingly recieving requests to include informative links;
Wind Energy
In reality, wind energy is a converted form of solar energy. The sun's radiation heats different parts of the earth at different rates most notably during the day and night, but also when different surfaces (for example, water and land) absorb or reflect at different rates.
This in turn causes portions of the atmosphere to warm differently. Hot air rises, reducing the atmospheric pressure at the earth's surface, and cooler air is drawn in to replace it. The result is wind.
Air has mass, and when it is in motion, it contains the energy of that motion kinetic energy. Some portion of that energy can converted into other forms mechanical force or electricity that we can use to perform work. As this new energy is coming more widely available and widespread, Benfield ATT are increasingly recieving requests to include informative links;
Geothermal Energy
Geothermal Energy is heat (thermal) derived from the earth (geo). It is the thermal energy contained in the rock and fluid (that fills the fractures and pores within the rock) in the earth's crust.
Calculations show that the earth, originating from a completely molten state, would have cooled and become completely solid many thousands of years ago without an energy input in addition to that of the sun. It is believed that the ultimate source of geothermal energy is radioactive decay occurring deep within the earth. As new energies are coming more widely available and widespread, Benfield ATT are increasingly recieving requests for informative links below.
