The end of show celebration event, hosted by ITV and Benfield ATT, kicked off with a welcome to the many public figures by Dr Michael Benfield, Managing Director of Benfield ATT.
The film set based in the stunning Bullring arena welcomed a prestigious guest-list including FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) UK Director, Anna Jenkins; CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) Chief Executive, Chris Blythe; TRADA (Timber Research & Development Association) Managing Director, Alasdair McGregor and Welsh Timber Forum Director, Keith Blacker.
The event was also host to representatives from NHBC (National House Building Council), BM TRADA, SmartPly, UltraJoist, Vincent Timber, JNC Timber Erection, Laminated Wood, Montague L Meyer, House of Fraser and Debenhams.
Designed to support and embrace the UK’s sustained growth in Timber Frame construction, the two homes designed and built for the House Race television show impressed the delegates. "Benfield ATTs House Race demonstrates why Timber Frame is fast becoming so popular; the flexibility, environmental status, speed and sheer precision will help secure timber frames position as the construction method the future" commented Chris Blythe of the CIOB.
Dr Michael Benfield, Managing Director of Benfield ATT, who was involved in House Race from the beginning, was equally as enthusiastic "Everyone is genuinely astounded at what the team has achieved. In ten days the teams have built two individually-designed fully-furnished Timber Frame homes from scratch, on our most prestigious and complex building site yet."
The House Race series will be aired on ITV and Discovery Home & Leisure at the end of July 2004.
