(Possible work from home for freelancer, e-business) - Part / newly qualified architect / (building) surveyor to train as a CAD (Computer Aided Design) designer of innovative domestic, commercial, educational, health and other sector buildings.
The position will involve collaboration with other professional firms, developers and property owners, as well as presentations to clients and others as appropriate, and may involve some travelling.
Key tasks will include -
- collaborating with the Company's technical, engineering and other professional staff to interpret the design requirements of clients, converting these into Timber Structure designs and producing manufacturing drawings from these for factory and site use.
- liasing with architects, surveyors, contractors, authorities and members of the public to ensure that completed designs are 'Right First Time'
- development of new product designs for the residential, leisure, educational and health markets
- relating drawings to site conditions and erection schedules
- becoming totally familiar with the Company's technical library and able to act as a reference point for internal and external queries on timber-frame
- working to make the Company the first port of call for anyone interested in timber frame structures
- promotion of the service to trade, professional and public sectors
- ensuring that all systems and protocols are in place and accessible internally and externally via the Company's IT systems.
- helping establish a body of specialist knowledge for company and partner reference
Work will be carried out under the direction of the Dr. Michael Benfield, who is a Chartered Surveyor, Chartered Builder and Fellow of the Architecture and Surveying Institute. This is intended to be a permanent appointment and offers career advancement opportunities for the right candidate.
Candidate profile:
- (under)graduate in architecture / surveying or related discipline with (student) membership of an appropriate professional institution.
- experience in CAD work, with some knowledge of timber frame desirable
- self starter, able to work autonomously while still being part of a team
- working knowledge of CRM (Customer Relations Management) and Project Management computerised systems would be beneficial
- good presentation skills desirable
- some ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage
