Based in our Caldicot, Monmouthshire, headquarters, this person will have extensive practical experience of all aspects of project management, preferably on, or allied to, construction projects. They should be able to read all types of drawings and specifications and be familiar with task execution times, elemental bills, quantities, and performance standards.
Working mainly from head office they will also handle logistics, methods of delivery and erection, answer site queries, etc. Occasional site visits will be involved.
Key tasks will include -
- collaborating with the Company's technical and professional staff to identify key project organisation and risk areas, including differences and points of potential major concern in timber framed projects.
- liaising with our own factory, sub contractors, external professionals, haulers, etc. to ensure project time scales are both feasible and achieved.
- using appropriate software to achieve performance norms
- maintaining written, photographic and computerised records of all project activities and actions
- ensuring that projects operate within agreed contract parameters
- promoting Lean Construction and Six Sigma teamwork amongst colleagues and sub-contractor
- assisting in establishing a body of specialist knowledge for company and partner reference
- work will be carried out under the direction of Dr. Michael Benfield, who is a both a Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Builder

Candidate profile -
- while formal qualification is not necessary, the successful candidate will be already working, or wishing to work, toward an appropriate professional qualification.
- extensive experience is required
- construction management background desirable
- work experience with engineers, quantity surveyors and architects desirable.
- self starter, able to work autonomously while still being part of a team
- some knowledge of timber frame desirable
- working knowledge of computer software essential
- good communications, English and Maths skills necessary
- good presentation skills desirable
